The fitness routines are always the most challenging and enjoyable to shoot. The Olympia presents a challenge when shooting the routines. The press pit is at a bit of a distance, which isn’t a huge issue until the routines go to the floor. The seasoned vets to this stage know to move to the front of the stage, where the best light is. The routines that get the most photographic coverage are those that are not on the ground and towards the front of the stage. The stage is elevated and when the routines are performed on the ground the photographers can only see the top of the competitor’s heads. That’s while you’ll see some routines have more images than others.
My favorite shot of the weekend is the one of Tanji Johnson in mid-air. Sometimes shots are perfectly framed and you’re able to capture the movement at the right time. It doesn’t happen often but these are the times that make photographing fun.

Check out the one and two piece photos on IFBBpro.com. J.M. Manion delivers photos from the Olympia prejudging.

IFBBpro.com has posted individual shots of the figure competitors. The shots come via JM Manion for both rounds.

The newest issue of FLEX magazine features IFBB Figure Pro Paola Almerico on the cover as well as the Bodyshop Profile. Paola is set to make her Olympia debut this weekend. Congrats to Paola on the feature and the hot photos shot by Terry Goodlad. Fans can meet Paola at the Meet the Olympians on Thursday night.

Ron Avidan caught Desha Rodriquez and Sonia Adcock battling over who’s pink phone was the coolest. No word on who won the throwdown but you can see both of them at the GNC booth this weekend.

Yesterday you got a look at some a couple of the competitors in this weekend’s contest. Today you get a few more. Props go to JM Manion for the pics.

A number of Olympia competitors have stopped by JM Manion’s studio for photo shoots. Here’s a sneak peak at some of the competitors you’ll see onstage this weekend. Check back tomorrow for more photos of other competitors…

Gina looking to knock out the champ this week.

Felicia has sights on continuing her win streak.

Sonia’s exotic looks and new look proving to suit her well.
Check out some of the sizzling shots of IFBB Pro Nicole Wilkins. One of the best in the fitness photography biz, Terry Goodlad, has posted a few photos of the young super star on bodysport.com. Nicole will be heading into her first Olympia next week. She’s competing in the loaded figure division. Personally, I’d like to see in the fitness portion of the show as I think she has the makings of being one of the next super stars. I’ll catch up with her more next week and get the inside scoop on her future plans.

One of the top photographers in the fitness business today, Pavel Ythjall, provided us with these exclusive photos. Take a look Behind the Scenes with Flexonline at the Pauline Nordin “The Girls Are Back” photo shoot. The photos are a new feature in the current issue of FLEX Magazine, October 2008.

There are a few more photos posted on IFBBpro.com.

Fans of IFBB Figure Pro Gina Aliotti can now put her on their desktops. Gina is this week’s bodybuilding.com’s Wallpaper of the week. Gina will be defending her Tournament of Champions title this weekend.
IFBB Fitness star Julie Lohre checked in and shared a few photos days out from the Olympia. The photos below are from two weeks out. As you can see Julie will be in shape for the Fitness showdown.

Julie’s ready to rock two weeks out.
Julie has has some time off since last competing in the Arnold and will be bringing a new routine to the Olympia stage. She’s been keeping plenty busy by holding posing clinics and mock competitions. The photos below are from one of these clinics, which also include outdoor workouts. Julie tells me the camp had nearly 20 women in the last one.

I asked Julie how she was feeling and she shared, “I am really feeling good about the Olympia and am in better condition (bodycomp/leaness) now than I was the day of the Arnold and 2 lbs heavier. It looks like the heavy back & leg training I did in the off season worked. My routines are ready and they will be harder than anything I have done before. I have to say, I am really looking forward to this show!”

Check out the fitness physiques from the Atlantic City Pro show on IFBBpro.com. Greenwood notched another win and made it three in a row… Can she continue her winning ways next week in Vegas?
Nicole has posted some Behind The Scenes photos from the Dr. Phil show. Joining her on the show is NBC’s Biggest Loser trainer and fellow IFBB Pro, Kim Lyons. You’ll be hearing/seeing more of Kim in the coming weeks. Check the photos on GETBIG.com’s Message Board.

Props to FLEX magazine for getting the women back in print. The feature is called, “The Girls Are Back” and back they are. The new magazine has Silvio Samuel on the cover and should be hitting the shelves now. The photos is the new issue are bad ass and Pauline looks awesome. I’m digging these photos and this direction in the mag.
What do you think?

Pauline Nordin in the newest FLEX magazine.

Awesome shots of Pauline Nordin.
The two piece round from the New York Pro is featured on IFBBpro.com. Check out the photos from each competitor in the figure division.
Photos from the New York Pro Figure are posted on IFBBpro.com. Thanks to Tony Blinn for continuing to support the women’s side of things.
Earlier this week, I caught up with Heather Armbrust 3.5 weeks out from the Ms. Olympia competition. Check out some of the photos on FLEXonline.com. Look for her shoulders & back training video on bodybuilding.com in a few days…

Pick up the new issue of FLEX magazine with Jay Cutler & Dexter Jackson on the cover. The issue has a feature on IFBB Figure Pro Teresa Anthony. The photo that ran was taken at the Pittsburgh Pro Figure show where she qualified for the Olympia. Props to FLEX for featuring the women more this year.

Individual photos of each competitor are featured on the homepage of IFBBpro.com. The ladies continue to be featured on the site and thanks to Mr. Ben Weider and Tony Blinn for their continued efforts online.

You may recognize this image as it was posted on here a few weeks ago. NPC competitor, Monique Minton is one week out from returning to the stage in hopes of nabbing a pro card. She finished third at the NPC USA Figure Championships last month behind Rachel Cammon and Alicia Marie. Can MoMo find victory in the Big Apple? Highly possible considering the top two in each class will achieve IFBB pro status. Fans of the Texas beauty can visit Bodybuilding.com where she is featured as the “Wallpaper of the Week.”
Props to my man Grif at Bodybuilding.com for doing a great job with the image.

Monique Minton has her sights set on New York next.
I like to bust Ruth Silverman’s chops about a number of things. She usually turns and walks away or tells me to shut up. It’s all in good fun.
Ruth has covered the women’s side of the industry for a number of years for IRONMAN Magazine and before that she worked with other publications. The new issue of IRONMAN magazine (October 2008 - with Eric Broser on the cover) arrived in my mailbox yesterday. I alway flip towards the back to check on Lonnie Teper and Ruth’s columns. Ruth showed not only some of the ladies you’ve seen featured on hardbody.com some love but also a mention to yours truly. Props to Ruth for running the photo of Lenay Hernandez and giving this rising star some ink.

Some individual shots of each fitness competitor are on IFBBpro.com. Thanks to Tony Blinn for the continued coverage of the females in the industry.
