FLEXonline.com caught up with Teri Turner, Kristi Tauti and Meriza DeGuzman as they head into this weekend’s IFBB Sacramento Pro. Tauti is always the quiet humble little lady while Meriza isn’t afraid to speak her mind in the interview. Turner doesn’t give herself enough credit heading into her pro debut.

Check out the interviews with the three ladies here.
The competitive season kicks off today with the IRONMAN / LA Fit Expo. A number of sponsors, fans and competitors are in Los Angeles this weekend for the event. If you’re in the area and want a schedule of events, check it out here.
I’m in LA and will be checking in periodically over the weekend with updates from the event. IFBB Figure Pro Houng Arcinas made the trip down from Sacramento last night. IFBB rookie Amy O’Neil will be in attendance working a booth. Ms. Figure Olympia Jennifer Gates has arrived and will be working the Pro Fights Supplements booth. Former WWE Diva Kristal Marshall is in the house with fiancĂ© Bobbie Lashley (former WWE star as well). The two of them will be appearing at the Champion Nutrition Booth. IFBB Figure Pro Rosa-Marie Romero will be at the San Nutrition booth, coming stateside all the way from Australia.
Check back here and at Bodybuilding.com for more updates.
This shot is a couple years old but one of my favs of IRONMAN magazine’s John Balik. The IRONMAN pro will be here before we know it and it marks the beginning of the competitive season. The FIT EXPO has become one of the best events to attend all year. This year IRONMAN and Bodybuilding.com have teamed up to offer a spokesmodel search. There are still a few days left to cast your vote. Check out the contestants here.
John Balik looks to another Fit Expo in 2009.
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the IRONMAN Pro. The IRONMAN always kicks off the competitive season and will do so a bit earlier this year. The Los Angles Fit Expo and IRONMAN Pro will be held on January 24 & 25, 2009. The fit expo continues to add more booths and events to the weekend. It’s always an enjoyable show to attend and has a laid back atmosphere to it. The stage lighting is known to be the best of any bodybuilding/fitness/figure competition.
Last year the NPC Figure shared the same stage as the IFBB Pro Men. The numbers were down and the overall quality of the figure competition was lacking. There will be no figure competition this year at this event. I found it alarming last year that the promoting magazine’s female expert didn’t give mention to the figure contest before or after the event on her blog. Yes, Ruth Silverman I am giving you a jab. It’s too bad to see this portion of the weekend go away as the winner received a layout in IRONMAN magazine and walked away with spectacular photos from Michael Nevuex.
Stay tuned for more details but be sure to mark this event on your calendar to start the 2009 year.
