If you’re not familiar with the program here’s the breakdown on the beatdown.

Ever wanted help getting a bully to back off? When it’s time to even the odds, it’s time for Bully Beatdown.

We’re bringing together bullies and their victims for the ultimate showdown. Bullies can pick on the small and the weak, but can they handle a trained, professional fighter? When they enter the ring — fighting for pride and for cash — will these bullies have what it takes? Or will they get a taste of their own medicine?

In each episode of executive producer Mark Burnett’s Bully Beatdown, victims reach out to our host, professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Jason “Mayhem” Miller, to enlist his help. After learning why this guy needs a beatdown, Mayhem will “ambush” the bully. Calling him out in front of others, Mayhem will give him a choice: accept the challenge of fighting a MMA fighter or look like a coward.

With the fight set, Mayhem makes sure the victims and the bullies get what they deserve. The bully gets the real experience of what it’s like to fight someone who is more than capable of fighting back, along with the nervous fear that comes from waiting for the big fight. For the victims, it’s the satisfaction of seeing their bully face someone who can make him suffer for his past actions.

Fight rules are simple: There are two rounds of fighting with up to $10,000 at stake for each newly extended five-minute round. Round 1 involves grappling and submissions; The Bully starts the round with $5,000, but will lose $1,000 every time he “taps out.” If at any time the bully manages to submit the MMA fighter, the bully wins an additional $5,000 bonus. Round 2 is all about kickboxing; the bully will win another $5,000 if he can survive five minutes of kickboxing with the MMA fighter without getting knocked out. If the bully gets knocked out, quits or the referee stops the fight before the end of the round, he gets nothing. If the bully manages to knock out the MMA fighter, he gets a $5,000 bonus. Any money deducted from the bully in either Round 1 or Round 2 will go to the victims and we will bring you closer to the action than ever before with Big John McCarthy’s ref-cam catching every excruciating punch, kick, and body slam inflicted upon our bully.

At the end of show, Mayhem calculates the winnings and tells the bully how much he has lost and how much is going to his victims. After the fight is over, one would hope that the bully will have learned a valuable lesson and will stop picking on people smaller and weaker than him. Will he change his ways? Or, someday in the future, will he need another Bully Beatdown?

Improvements and Judging
I made my own prediction on how I would do after pre-judging.  After getting feedback, checking out the physiques backstage and thinking about my own performance I placed myself about 10th and ended up taking 13th. So as for me the judges were spot on and I was just fine with my placing. I improved two placings from the Phoenix show and this show had a much deeper line up.

I have a fair share of improvements to make… My legs and glutes needed to come in a bit tighter, my suit bottoms were big (every detail counts when competition is tight) and my posing was awkward and stiff.

I made major improvements from the Phoenix Pro and felt like I created an “awe” factor in the crowd so I completed two of my goals while at the show. I met many new competitors and got to hang with my friends which is MY favorite part about competing. Meeting the competitors and making a personal connections makes following the sport that much better!

For me following the sport of bikini and figure is like having a fantasy football team or something! I cannot wait to see what happens at the Olympia this year.

Cheat Meal
The night after the show I went to the Cheesecake Factory. For some this is normal but for me this was my first time. I had a few bites of two different flavors of cheesecakes (Red Velvet & Adams Peanut Butter) and they were both delicious. I have always hated cheesecake but both flavors were yummy. I returned home on Sunday, after a 12 hour travel day, I went out for some clean sushi but included a bottle of Saki!!!  I also ate a whole can of my favorite corn!

That is all she wrote for me – I see the weeks after competing as a “clean slate “ a “fresh start”. It is like completing a cleanse and I do not want to see all my hard work go down the drain in a few days.

Transition
Slow and steady… I am doing almost the same amount of cardio this week as I was doing just before the show. Each week I will keep adjusting the cardio sessions down until I get to my normal routine.  This helps my body adjust and allows me to keep the competition look.

This week I am doing two hard workout days and two days of fun classes. Each week I will add a workout back in until I get to my normal routine.  I like to get right back into the gym after a show.  I may not jump back into training right away but like to keep some type of routine going.  I am drinking tons of water and electrolytes to help my body recover from my water depletion.  I am staying pretty clean this week and each week will slowly add new items to my diet.

Post Competition Skin
I finally found a way to get the tanner off using www.bodybuilding.com. Baby oil, a bath and bath gloves are the magical ingredients!  The tanner does not come completely off but it gets to a color that is much better than not using the above ingredients. Wish I would have known about the baby oil trick sooner.

Hope you have enjoyed my journals.

Make it a great day!

Kat’s Countdown – One Week To Go

Hunger
Bottom line… for most of us competitors we are going to feel hungry!!! We are only hungry because our metabolism is in over drive and we are working so hard yet eating portions of someone who does not work out at all. I get so hungry sometimes I will drive myself crazy sitting around thinking how hungry I am.

I have found I do not think about food or do not feel hungry when I am busy and not sitting. So, to fight the hunger pains and thoughts of food I run errands, go shopping, clean and complete projects around the house (organize filing cabinet, clean out garage…)

Hunger and Favorite Foods
In addition to staying busy I also found the following to be helpful during the last few weeks of prep:

1. Homemade iced tea – no need to add Splenda when tea, coffee and water are your only choices.

2. Making the most out of what you can eat – some of my favorite combos include:
-  Diced chicken, fresh squeezed lemon juice, sea salt, apple cider vinegar with chopped green beans, cabbage or asparagus.
- Diced chicken or tilapia with soy sauce mixed with either chopped green beans, cabbage or asparagus

These two meals taste sooooo yummy and really help me get through the last few weeks. Do any of you have combos you enjoy?

Family Support
Family support is an important and for me a needed element to competition prep especially during the last few weeks before a show.

I returned home from a week long vacation. Every day during my vacation I would break away from the family to complete my workouts. Having family support made it easier and less awkward for me. At first they thought it was a little weird for me to be on “VACATION” yet still have to hit the gym every day.

The following explanations helped my family understand what was going on:
1. I enjoy working out so for me being able to work out on my time during vacation is a vacation and not a job.
2. My body is like a billboard and represents all the individuals helping/sponsoring me for the show.
3. At the moment I skip a beat there is another competitor working hard.
4. Getting on stage knowing I did everything I could to be the best makes it easy to be confident on stage.

It was so nice to be on my own schedule during vacation. I was able to get 7 to 11 hours of sleep a night. Prepping is a little bit of work but I think the benefits of being off work and with the family outweigh the prep time.

Jacksonville
I am packed and already started my cooking for the Jacksonville show. I cooked, measured and froze a bunch of chicken. I will cook and freeze my steak this weekend and cook my eggs, tilapia and prep veggies the night before leaving. Starting your packing and prepping early will be to your benefit for so many reasons~!

I am feeling so good! I am full of energy and everyone keeps complimenting me on how my skin looks so fresh and bright. I really want to make it to the Olympia and am excited/ready to showcase my physique.

Those of you in the Utah area stop by Max Muscle in Layton and meet Kathleen Tesori. Their customer appreciation day is this Saturday from 10am-5pm.
