Dianna Dahlgren Recaps Her Road to The Olympia

IFBB Bikini Pro Dianna Dahlgren is headed to her second Olympia and is carrying the momentum of a victory into the big dance. She takes a minute to share her thoughts on the past few weeks and what’s up in the days ahead. Dianna has successfully positioned herself as one of the top contenders in this year’s Bikini Olympia.

Hello again!!

Thank you to Isaac & Hardbody.com for allowing me to do another blog before heading into the BIG SHOW! I’m so happy beyond belief and can’t wait!

The Dallas Europa was a BLAST to say the least! I hadn’t competed in almost a year, so this was a “come back” party that I had for myself. LOL! My goal was to be happy no matter what. I figured… the judges hadn’t seen me in so long who knows if they will like me or what I have changed in my physique! The weekend ended with a 4th place finish and I was so excited because I qualified for the Olympia! The top 3 girls were all qualified coming into this show so when that happens, the 4th place finisher will qualify.

I was lean in Dallas so I knew that for Phoenix I could relax a tad bit and be fuller :) It was a 2 week time period before I would be on stage again so I didn’t do too much damage with my diet. I always do cardio the morning after a show, my goals are always to stay on somewhat of a regimen, but to be honest with all of you I am so physically and mentally exerted from the weekend that I am out of whack for 3-4 days. After that I have to put the pieces back to the puzzle and keep going!

I enjoyed lots of fats headed into Phoenix, when I say fats: steak, nuts and almond butter… YUM! By the time I was ready to hit the stage again I was nervous! Even though my trainer was saying I was ready, I didn’t feel like it just because I am used to seeing my abs shredded, its just genetics. But in Phoenix the overall goal was for them not to be so hard. Very pleased with what happened because I ended up walking out of there with a win! My 2nd pro win and it was great to just enjoy that. Ever since last summer, I dealt with a lot of personal issues I was having with myself, family and work, I just couldn’t pull myself together for anything, so for me to come back, qualify, then win is very surreal for me and I really want to thank the Lord, my parents, and the people always sending me love and encouragement. THANK YOU! It really does mean the world to me :)

So now, I am 8 days away from my 2nd Olympia and can I say I wish it was here already! I’m working away until then and I can’t wait! Nothing crazy this show and my goals are all set. I can’t wait until next Friday comes and the judges call my number! TIME FOR SOME FUNNNNNN! :)

I hope all of you tune into the live webcast and follow along on twitter or better yet, ATTEND the Olympia! It’s such an amazing place to be, tons of people, tons of action, never a dull moment! Helloooo LAS VEGAS!! Friday September 16th is my Prejudging and Finals WOOOHOOOOO!! Keep me in your prayers and I will update you after THE BIG SHOW!!!

Thank you so much :)

Dianna Dahlgren Does Dallas

IFBB Bikini Pro Dianna Dahlgren has positioned herself as one of the top models in the biz and now she’s looking to do the same on the competitive stage. She hasn’t competed since last year’s Bikini Olympia and she was a little off her best there. What will we see from the California girl this weekend in Dallas? Can she bring the same swagga she shows in her photos to the stage and overtake the Bikini Olympia champ, Sonia Gonzales? DD checks in as she heads into this weekend’s Dallas Europa Super show.

ALMOST THERE!!!!!! KEEP GOING!!!!!
Wow! I can’t believe where the time has gone! Is it really August already!? Right now in my life I am very happy!! I’m closing in on the last days of prep before I head into the Dallas Europa and I am so ready for it! I have been working very hard for the last few months and I’m excited to see what will happen next weekend! For those of you who keep up with Hardbody.com you will know that I was supposed to do the New York Pro back in May and unfortunately I couldn’t pull myself together in time! It was very heart breaking for me, I am very hard on myself for things I don’t do when I say I am going to do them. But NY Pro was not the right time for me and I am so ecstatic that I have chosen Dallas Europa as my first show of the year! I have not competed since last year’s Olympia, so my overall goal here in Dallas is to just have fun! Get on that stage, work it, and wait for those judges to call my number! :)

The past few weeks have been some of the hardest, mentally. Nutrition and diet is the most important during your prep and I tell everyone that this is my biggest challenge of competing! So during this prep I have learned so much about dieting and what works for me. Learning your triggers and what to stay away from, I haven’t had to do this in over a year! So I forgot what it was like in some situations. I travel a ton for work, my second home is an airplane and a hotel room LOL but I have surprisingly made it work great for my program and didn’t make excuses! Got it handled!! So here we are, only a few days left of workouts before I fly out to Dallas. I’m finalizing all the ‘TO DOs’ of competing in a show. Flights, Hotel, Hotel Roomie (Brooke Mora! YAY), Tanning, Make up and Hair, Suit, Shoes… and POSING POSING POSING!

I’ll keep all of you updated on the show so make sure to follow me on twitter! @diannadahlgren or you can go find me on Facebook! I’m just so thankful, my support system has been amazing and Ive been treating myself very well, so I feel great headed into Dallas, not a worry in my mind! See you all there!

Hardbody Goes on The Road With Dianna Dahlgren

One of the hottest fitness models in the industry today, Dianna Dahlgren is preparing for her return to the IFBB pro bikini stage. She’s been busy traveling the land as Miss Motorcross but that’s not all she’s been up to. Follow along as DD shares her journey back to where it all started, The Big Apple.

DD graciously accepted the HARDBODY invite to share her journey to the NY PRO Bikini competition. Check it!

HELLO!!!! to all my beautiful fitness ladies!

It feels like I have been away for ages and I am so ready to get back up on a stage again! My awesome, close friend Isaac Hinds asked me to catch everyone up to date on what I am doing and where I am!! So here it goes!

After the Olympia last year, I had surgery which gave me some needed time away from the stage. I was hoping that my first contest would be Muscle Contest in March, but I received a phone call offering me the Spokesmodel for the Supercross Series. Supercross are indoor-stadium races put on every weekend for the first 5 months of the year. It also happens to be my favorite sport because I was raised in it with my dad and brother racing! So I gladly accepted and I have been gone to a new city, new state, new people every weekend since January 1st! Its been a blast and its been absolutely FLYING BY!

Since I’ve had so much time away from the competing scene I have been craving a win! I plan to do the New York Pro on May 28th. Woop Woop!!!! SO EXCITED!!! So It’s a little under 2 months away and I am excited but nervous. I havent seen my body in a ‘competitive’ form since the Olympia, so some days it seems hopeless that I will be that amazing shape in 7 weeks, but I know with consistency and hard work it will come. My biggest challenge is being away from home. From Fridays to Sunday I am gone, so I have to pack food and make sure everything is handled before I leave. I call the hotel, and make sure there is a refrigerator and fitness room handy. Usually I can get hot water anywhere for my morning oatmeal. I eat on airplanes, gotta love the yummy cold chicken and fish LOL. Its been easy on some occasions and other weekends its HARD, SO HARD. My mind is in complete control of my actions and body. If I let my mind go to a place that is not good for me, I tend to lead away from the diet and exercise.

When I make mistakes I call one of my best friends Sonia Gonzales. Thanks to Sonia I have got through alot of days where I thought I wouldn’t. I always recommend a person that you can trust and have close to you, that helps and understands what you are going through. Staying HAPPY in my world is a key to success. I love feeling happy and I do great when I am happy. I always make choices that will make me feel good. Surrounding yourself with people who love and care about you too is always great. Last year I went through a bad relationship, and it made dieting and exercise that more difficult. It was important to flee away from that relationship because it was not supporting me and what I wanted to do in my life. If it drags you down or holds you back, GET RID OF IT. To do this sport, you really have to love yourself and in turn be loved and cared for by other people, whether it be your spouse, family, friends or trainer.

So back to the NY Pro, its 7 1/2 weeks away and I am so excited. The thought of me walking out on a stage and imaging the best result possible brings tears to my eyes. Showing myself how much I am worth the hard work. I want the win so much, if I do what I am supposed to do I will get it cause I have worked and earned it! I only have a few more rounds left of Supercross then I will stay home for the remainder of my prep before leaving to New York City!!! May 27th will be filled with smiles, tanning, sleep, more tanning… Lol, then May 28th is the big day with make up, hair and doing my thang out on that stage! Each day till then I work, pray and ask for the best days possible!!! See ya ladies next week!!

If anyone would like to reach out and get ahold of me please go to Diannadahlgren.com you can email me through my website! Or follow me on twitter, @diannadahlgren or of course, the lovely Facebook!!

Dianna’s Modeling Tip – Where to start?

Cover girl Dianna Dahlgten offers a couple tips on getting started with modeling.

diannamodeling

Hello, hello again everyone! Hope you are doing great!

One thing I have been getting asked alot lately is how do I get into modeling? If you want it… go get it but like anything, you gotta work for it. The easiest it to start online. Start by looking online and then ask yourself these questions…

What look do you offer?
Which genre of modeling do you want to be associated with?
Do you have head shots and a portfolio?
Do you have business cards and comp cards printed and ready to be handed out?

One of the best things I’ve found success with is networking. Get out and build your network. Meet people and interact.

A few things to think about when it comes to getting started. Have a great week everyone!

Dianna’s Monday Modeling Tip – Keep it Classy Ladies

Hello again everyone. This week’s tip is pretty simple but a good one… be professional! I say this quite a bit but I mean it in every aspect.

diannamodeling

Here’s some examples of being unprofessional, so stay away from these scenarios! When a spokesmodel goes out to work at events, tradeshows, shoots, etc., most likely there is going to be a party afterward.

What would you do?
A) Go out and enjoy the free drinks… end up getting drunk.
or
B) Take a pass on the booze and stay sober.
????

Remember, you’ll likely you will be working again in the morning time and alcohol has a huge effect on not only how you feel but how you will look the next day. Many times on the 3rd day of an event I have seen models show up an hour or two late. All because they had a little too much fun the night before.  If you are on the job and around the people that you are working with stay professional. It’s okay to go out for a little bit and have a drink (meaning one not ten) if you can handle it but don’t feel pressured to stay out all night. You’ll look and feel better the next day.

Dianna’s Tip of the Week: PRESSURE… PRESSURE! NO BUENO!

diannamodeling
Hello Everyone!
Hope you are having a great week! Pressure… We all have it at times but you don’t always have to. Make sure that when you are working you are always comfortable. If the media, camera man, videographer, photographer, etc., are pressuring you into doing something that you are not comfortable with then please do not do it! If you do, you will probably be disappointed, guilty, or even worse having it come back to haunt you months or even years later!

Treat your career like your baby!

I have made plenty of mistakes but I have learned from them! So take it from me! Say no if you are pressured in any way!

Dianna’s Tip of the week – Be Proud

Dianna is back with her Tip of The Week. Check out what the Flex swimsuit cover girl has to say.

diannamodeling

Helllloooo everyone!
I am hoping every one is doing great! Here is my tip for the week… Be Proud! I started off when I was 18 in underwear and lingerie modeling, My parents we not too happy about it but I reassured them that everything I was doing was in good taste! Now a few years down the road, my most recent cover is on Flex Magazine. I have worked very hard to get where I am now and one thing I have learned is ALWAYS work and make yourself happy with what you are doing. No shame, no embarrasement, can you take what you do home at the end of the day and show your new images to your loved ones!? If you can, then be PROUD and pat yourself on the back for your work.

Dianna’s Modeling Tip of The Week – Release Forms

It may not be Monday but the current cover girl of the FLEX swimsuit issue, Dianna Dahlgren is back for a beneficial modeling tip of the week.

diannamodeling

Hey everyone!
I hope everyone is great! I have been traveling a lot lately so I haven’t been able to get you all tips, but I am home now so here is this week’s tip!

Model Release! This is very important when setting up shoots for yourself. It’s a legal contract between you and the photographer and all legal terms should be stated in it. This includes compensation or if you are trading for the photos and it also provides limitation or no limitation on what the photographer can do with the photos as well. Make sure you read it and ask questions, especially if you haven’t worked with the photographer before. This is complete protection for yourselves! I have had a nightmare photographer posting photos that he did not have a release for. Thank God for JM Manion to settle that! haha

Hope this helps!

Dianna’s Tip of the Week – Cold Hard Cash

Dianna “DD” Dahlgren is back with her tip of the week.

diannamodeling
Hey everyone! I hope you’re doing great! For this week’s tip I want to talk about good ole CASH!

I never carry cash on me and always use my credit cards… unfortunately I have run into many problems because of it. Taxis, stores, supplies, etc… Sometimes these services require cash only. So now when I get ready for a booking, I ALWAYS make sure I have cash. Make sure to save your receipts for reimbursement!!
;)

Have a great week everyone!

Dianna Dahlgren’s Monday Modeling Tip – Bring a Bag

Hey, hey everyone!
Hope you had a great weekend. I had fun at my bikini pro debut and now I’m focused on the Pittsburgh Pro that will be here soon!

diannamodeling

Today’s tip… It’s a MUST to have some type of medium bag with you when traveling or going on shoots. Why? You need it for all your essentials. I have a carry-on bag and rollaround bag!  When I compete I always use my rollaround bag and when I go off on shoots I have a carry-on bag. For instance you might be shooting on a beach… can’t take your rollaround through the sand!  Makes it real tuff! These bags are VERY HANDY to throw your makeup, robe, outfits and ANYTHING into it that you will need for the day!

Dianna Dahlgren’s Monday Modeling Tip: MAC Pro Card

Ladies… Hope everything is well this week!

diannamodeling

Now that things are winding down for the MuscleContest Pro Bikini show,  I’m gathering all my things!! One thing that I’ve disliked with modeling is sometimes you got to spend money to make money!! But thank God some companies support models, make up artists and all the people involved in a shoot! MAC cosmetics has designed a pro card for their products to be discounted up to 40%!! All you have to do is fill out the application and send in your professional business card, head shots and a comp card with a check for $35 then vualaaa! They send you a card and you can use it at ANY pro store!! Happy make up shopping!!!

Hello everyone. I Hope everyone is doing great!

diannamodeling

I was on a shoot over the weekend for FLEX magazine. Saturday night I went to Sephora and bought eye cream. I thought eh, I might need this one day even though I have never tried or used it! Well thank God I bought it! I woke up Sunday morning and BOOM… PUFFY EYES! EEEK! I’m so glad I bought it. I’m adding this to my list of essentials. Pick up Depuffing Eye Cream By Benefit, it works!

Dianna’s Monday Modeling Tip – Castings and Callbacks

It’s that time of the week again. Muscle & Fitness Hers cover girl, Dianna Dahlgren shares another Monday Modeling Tip.

diannamodeling

This week: CASTINGS and CALL BACKS
It is most important to be prepared when going to a casting or when you receive a callback! You want to be prepared at ALL times! Make sure you have your portfolio, comp cards, business cards, agent/ manager information, availability, etc. ALL HANDLED. What happens if you get a call back then you are booked for the shoot date? No point in going then! Always get details from your agent or manager, or point of contact on what the job is. If its a sporty job, then go casual and make sure to have a sports bra and shorts so they can have a better idea of your body. If its a business booking, then go in slacks, button up and heels! Remember appearance is always important!

Good luck everyone!

Dianna Dahlgren’s Monday Modeling Tip – Pamper Yourself

The current cover girl of Muscle & Fitness Hers, Dianna Dahlgren shares another modeling tip.

diannamodeling

Hope everyone is doing great!

Now ladies a serious matter here! Modeling always isn’t the greatest life. I know, hard to believe right? Like…Travel, delays, to and from, basically hurry up and wait. Girls can get stressed within seconds so this is very important for me to say. Be a little selfish! You come first…PLEASE PAMPER YOURSELF! Since I am also working out constantly I have to remind myself to do something for me once a week or I will go bonkers! Do things like go get a massage!! ahhhhh after working alot… this is what I LOVE TO DO or pedicure and manicure… MMMM ask em to go extra tough on the massage part! haha, or every night relax before you go to sleep and JOURNAL! My journal is filled with my thoughts and headaches! This is very important cause if you have worked hard… you need a sighhhhh of relief once in a while! Now get to pampering girls!!

Dianna Dahlgren’s Monday Modeling Tip

Helllloooo again everyone!!!
diannamodeling

Make sure to have business cards and comp cards!! When a model shows up at a booking you never know who will be there! What happens if a producer is there and they are interested in your look?! You want to give them something professional with all your contact info. So make sure to have business cards and ALWAYS comp cards with 4-6 photos on it!

Thanks everyone! Have a great week!!!

Dianna

Dianna Dahlgren’s Monday Model Tip

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing amazing!!!

diannamodeling

Tip for this week:
People always say when you come to a photo shoot to have no makeup on whatsoever. But actually I think you should wear one light coat of mascara, it helps the lashes and the top coat of mascara stick much better.

Have a great Monday!!

Dianna

This week’s tip… always make sure and bring a set of lashes to your photo shoots!! I have been on shoots and the make-up artist will accidently forget to bring enough pairs!! I always make sure to bring a fresh pair in my goodie bag ;)

diannamodeling

Thanks to Mr. Hinds and Hardbody.com, I will now be doing a Modeling Tip of the Week. I’m excited to share some tips that have helped me in my career. If you have any questions or would like to suggest a topic feel free to email me at diannadahlgren@me.com. Ok, so for the first tip of the week… When packing for a shoot ALWAYS make sure to pack a white, black and especially NUDE colored thongs or g-string panties. This way if for some reason, you have to wear a suit or an outfit that another girl has worn, you can feel comfortable doing so. I learned this time when I was first starting out in modeling from another awesome mode, Ms. Tailor James. Thanks and see ya next week!

xo,
Dianna
