Like the 2009 Figure Olympia, Nicole Wilkins-Lee continued to impress the judges with her physique, and won the 2010 Figure International in Columbus, Ohio. Erin Stern looked awesome placing second, while Heather Mae French took third. Mindi Smith, who two weeks earlier, won her first pro contest in her IFBB debut, took 4th.

Angela Kegler is the overall winner of the Arnold Amateur NPC Masters Figure Championship
COLUMBUS, OH – Angela Kegler of Columbus, Ohio is overall winner of the Arnold Amateur NPC Masters Figure Championship competition that was held as a part of the Arnold Sports Festival 2010. There were 36 athletes competing in this event.

In the Masters Figure Short Class, Angeles Kegler of Columbus, Ohio took 1st place and won a Tony Nowak jacket and a one year subscription to Posedown Magazine. As the overall winner she also won an Arnold VIP Ticket Package and a House of Pain gym bag.

Rounding out the top five Masters Figure Short Class competitors were:

Chady Dunmore is the overall winner of the second Arnold Amateur NPC Bikini Championship
COLUMBUS, OH – Chady Dunmore of Roseville, California the overall winner of the Arnold Amateur NPC Bikini Championship competition that was held as a part of the Arnold Sports Festival 2010. There were 89 athletes competing in the second year of this event, more than double the number of contestants over the previous year.
 

In the Bikini Short Class, Annette Perry of Natick, Massachusetts took 1st place and won a Tony Nowak jacket and a one year subscription to Posedown Magazine presented by Bob Johnson.

The final NPC National show of the year has come to a close and it was a strong finish. Like all shows it was not without some controvesy. The most heated discussions are coming from the female bodybuilding fans and it’s great to see people talking about female bodybuilding again. Kris Murrell, the overall winner displayed a very feminine look and not only took top honors but also the overall in bodybuilding. Jessica Anderson took the tall bikini class and the overall. Both women are being talked about as having not so firm booties. Does a pretty face trump a less than hard booty? That’s not my call however both women are undeniably attractive. Congratulations to Mindi Smith for taking the overall figure title at the NPC Sacramento last night. We told you about the first time NPC competitor last week. If you missed her interview check it out here. Mindi had a rockin suit, was very polished in her presentation and with a bit of fine tuning in the next two weeks she’ll be a contender at the NPC Nationals. She’ll have a much tougher time in Florida but look for her to be in the mix.

A look at the official scorecard:

The results are in and some unexpected results were read off. I’m not at the event but everyone I spoke to didn’t see Akane in 5th. Felicia Romero has improved her lower body and notched another pro victory under her belt. Despite what the hardbody readers thought in our poll, Kristi Tauti landed in second. Kristi gathered 76% of the votes in our poll this evening with Felicia snagging 24%. Krissy Chin lands in the third and final qualifying spot for the 2010 Olympia. Kristin Nunn improved from last week’s Ft. Lauderdale Pro by finishing fourth. The surprise to those in the audience was rookie pro Akane Nigro-Ismeal landing in the fifth spot. Again, I was not there and can’t speak to how I would have scored it. Judging by photos only tells part of the story that played out on stage. Congratulations to all the women who accomplished their goals at this show.

Congratulations to Amanda Latona for taking home the top spot at the year’s FLEX Bikini Model Search contest. I was shared my thoughts on the competition after the prelims however when you look at the top 16, it was a good lineup. Keep in mind I was not being critical of the contest, the contest is a HUGE opportunity for women to get noticed. My hope is that women do a bit more research and present themselves better in future events. It’s the nature of the beast when you have an open competition. Some people may have entered because they lost weight and felt good about themselves. Other women appeared to be slightly delusional thinking they are a top FITness model, and leaves you wondering… Have you ever picked up and looked at FLEX magazine? The other part of this contest is being a spokesmodel. That means you need to be able to articulate well and not sound like a dufus when asked questions.

As you can see the top five women look the part of what a FITness model should look like. Amanda was without question the favorite in the audience and the clear winner in my opinion. Mary has a good look in the runner-up position and Tianna Ta improved her stage presence and tightened up her physique from Team Universe. Props to the women in the top five as well as the other women who brought a fit physique to this competition.

Adela Garcia returned to the Olympia stage for the first time since 2007. A knee injury kept her out of competition until the 2009 Europa Super show, which she won. Adela came into Vegas the show the odds-on favorite and she lived up to the expectations. She was consistent in each round and it lead to her 4th Fitness Olympia title.

Many felt she’d be pushed the hardest by Tracey Greenwood but it was Tanji Johnson that came the closest to the title. Tanji brought her best physique ever and coupled it with two great routines. She also can say she won the last IFBB pro fitness 45-second routine.

Tracey Greenwood slipped to third in large part for not being at her best in the routine rounds. She did improve the balance of her physique but it leaves you wondering… Will Tracey hang it up or will we see her back again next year? She wouldn’t give me an answer but enthusiastically told me, “you’ll be the first to know Isaac, well second after J.M.”

Julie Palmer was also thought to be a contender for the title but wasn’t as sharp as she needed to be this time out. Her conditioning was a bit off in the prejudging, particularly in her glutes and hamstrings. Her evening routine has some good gymnastic skills however it lacked the flow needed to be in title contention. It looked like Julie knew she was off when she took the stage by the expression on her face. Look for her to bounce back at the Arnold with her conditioning and make a run at the top spot.

I was the most impressed with Tina Durkin and had I been a judge (which I’m not) she would have been one or two in the physique rounds but she landed in fourth. Keep your eye on Tina, she’s one who will be a contender in the years ahead. She nailed her physique conditioning at the Arnold and here. I thought her routine was good and continues to evolve.

Myriam Capes has also come a long way with her physique and her routines are solid. I’m very impressed with what she has done in two years. I’d never guess she could transform her physique the way she has and has made a believer out of with her potential.

The rest of the pack…

I caught a lot of slack from some women for me predicting Trish Warren in the bottom spot. It’s nothing personal peeps. Where did she finish? Well, next to the bottom and would have most likely been in that spot had Mindi not injured herself during the two-minute routine. Again nothing personal and just stating my opinion, which apparently was shared with the judges this weekend. Trish’s routine needs to continue to evolve to be a contender. The Jen Hendershott choreography influence could be seen with the attitude and dance moves but a little too much dancing, in my opinion. She did have some of the best toe touches though. Her physique improved and if she can bring a better routine to the stage she can be in the money.

I think we saw Shannon Meteraud take the fitness stage for the last time and again it’s nothing person but her physique looked like it was tired. Nicole Duncan has mad potential and great routines. As she continues to find the formula for competing in multiple shows look for her to be a top contender in a couple years.

Tracey Greenwood repeated as the Atlantic City Fitness Champ once again. Unlike a couple years ago she won’t leave with an injured thumb but instead carry some momentum into the Olympia. Tanji Johnson showed that she is still a top tier pro by bringing a much improved showing. Tanji rocked the house and won the two-minute routine round. Nicole Duncan also kicked some booty in the routine rounds and it helped launch her into 4th. She’s already qualified for the Olympia from her third place showing in Dallas last month. Her physique wasn’t quite as sharp this time and it dropped her a bit in the physique rounds. Bethany Wagner more than held her own in the physique rounds and her 45-second routine helped her stay in the top three. She still needs some refining on the two-minute routine and when she does look out, this girl will be winning pro shows. Laticia rounded out the top five. Congratulations ladies.

Amanda Marinelli and Michele Mayberry were both on the original list but had to withdrew. Amanda due to an illness and Michele due to an injury. Michele did compete in the figure division at this show.

Shannon Meteraud notched another pro win under her belt tonight in the Atlantic City Pro Master’s Figure . She bested a strong field of 25 women. Tivisay Briceno took the runner-up position and had her best showing of the year. Melissa Frabbiele found third in her return to the stage after a few months away. Marie Ann Newman had an impressive pro debut by placing 4th. Just a few weeks ago she was battling it out as an amatuer in the NPC. Christiana Casoni also had an impressive return to her the stage and placed 5th. This was the most refine look she’s presented as a pro.

Congratulations to Team Bombshell. Four of the six pro cards from the North Americans went to Team Bombshell members.

Cheryl Brown won the Over 35 B Class and Open B Class and went on to take 2nd in the Overall. Cheryl is now eligible for IFBB Pro League status. I’m told after her win she signed with Fitness Management Group (FMG), making her the third Bombshell competitor to sign with them this season!

Kat Holmes, Kira Rivera and Jessica Lawrence each won their respective classes and went on to take the Overall titles to make them new IFBB Pros. The wins make them eligible to compete in the IFBB Bikini Division next season.

Heather has positioned herself as a top 5 threat at this year’s Olympia and potentially a top three spot after this weekend’s performance. She bested a very good Erin Stern by four points. Meriza slips past Krissy by one point for the third place spot. The top three were already qualified for the Olympia as was fourth place.
