Anyone catch this last night? Host, Bryant Gumbel covers the world of female bodybuilders for HBO’s Real Sports. Collette is very articulate and represents the female bodybuilders well from the looks of this HBO promo. If anyone caught the episode, post your thoughts in the comments field below.
I did not see it but it is on again tomorrow night at 10 pm. I hope to catch it then.

The show was interesting. It was honest and women spoke candidly and I commend their bravery. As a physique competitor, I wish they would have covered the entire spectrum–bodybuilding, fitness, and figure. We know that mainstream media boils all physique competition into “bodybuilding” and there is more to it than that. The special focused on the subculture of bodybuilding and there is so much more–not just within that division but the other counterparts (fitness and figure) weren’t distinguished. It’s not that I’m looking for those areas to be recognized for their work but it would be educational for viewers to know that other aspects exist. I think the average viewer, without a background in the industry would see that and walk away with three things, “A cross between Brittany and Thor, drugs, and sex.” It’s not the brush I choose to be painted with but that’s what sells advertising spots I suppose.
I met Colette for the first time at the Jr. Nationals this year and she is such a sweetheart! I think she is very honest about the sport and always represents female bodybuilding well.
