Walk with Watson to the Figure International

Andrea Watson never lost a show in her short NPC career. She took the short class as well as the overall title at the 2009 NPC Jr USA, earning her IFBB Pro status. Now the short but mighty woman heads into her debut at this year’s Figure International. Andrea originally planned to debut last year however it was postponed due to an appendix surgery.

Andrea will be sharing some of her thoughts heading into her pro debut, here on Hardbody.com. Follow along and get a look into the life of a rookie as she heads into the biggest show of her life.

Ok, a little less than five weeks to go until my pro debut – still can’t believe I got an invite to the Arnold.  Ugh, my hands are all sweaty just thinking about it. It seems as though my mind continues to go a million miles an hour, each hour, everyday just thinking of everything I must achieve and accomplish in such little time.

It seems as though it’s so much harder this time around than last year.  Well, last year this time, I was getting ready for my first show so I didn’t feel so pressured. Wow, I will be stepping foot on the stage of the Arnold less than a year from my very first competition. The Spring of 2009 seems so far away and long ago….I keep telling myself I can do it like last year… in just seven weeks I won four overall titles (well five if you count the novice division at the Panhandle), never placed second next to a competitor, and got a pro card!

Geez, I keep telling myself, no pressure Andrea, just go out there and do what you did last year!  Yeah right, easier said than done. I am so so tired. I get up each morning at 4:30 am hop on my treadmill do an hour, go to work by 7:30 am, do round two of cardio during lunch, go back to work and finish the day with round three of cardio at 6 pm.  Some people call me blessed to have so much muscle – yeah right, seems more like a curse at this point in time. I haven’t touched a weight the last four weeks because I’m too big and the sight of cardio equipment makes me want to cry!

My body just likes to be soft and not lean.  It doesn’t want to accept abs, just an outline of them.  I feel as though my booty will never be smaller than Beyonce’s, that my biceps grow by just picking up my gallon jug of water, and that my back is going to give out on me any second (I have a bulging disc).  Then I stop and listen to myself think… and I just giggle at how silly I must sound.

There are many times throughout the day when I feel so insecure about myself, and then there are many time a day where I feel like I’m on top of the world. At this particular moment I’m feeling somewhere in between.
