IFBB Sacramento Pro Figure Preview – Pick ‘em and Win $100

Isaac Hinds | IFBB shows, Sacramento Pro | Tuesday, 03 November 2009, 8:11 am

Twenty-six IFBB Figure Pros are set to compete in the 2009 IFBB Sacramento Pro Figure this Saturday. I’m going on record to say this will be the most competitive IFBB Figure show of the year. Five women in this line-up were on the 2009 Figure Olympia stage. While none of the “big names” in the world of figure are on the competitor list it is nothing short of a battle to for the top three Olympia qualifying spots. Think I’m out to lunch on my claim of this being the most competitive show of the year? Let’s break it down.

Huong Arcinas tells me she will be back to defend her title, despite her name not yet being on the official list. Huong presented her best physique at last year’s Sac Pro and was rewarded for it. She has yet to find her stride since, struggling to bring her best at the Arnold and Olympia. She assures me we’ll see a much improved look to her at this show. Despite checking in at 4′11″ and under 100lbs, don’t count her out of a repeat. She’ll have her work cut out for her as a number of women could make a case for the top spot if they are also at their best.

Cheryl Brown made her presence known in her pro debut when she placed 5th at the Ft. Lauderdale Pro.

Merzia DeGuzman slipped a bit at the Border States but has a physique that’s been on the Olympia stage.

Carin Hawkins brought her best to the Border States and surpassed Merzia at the contest.

Andrea Dumon is a name we haven’t seen on a competitor list in some time. How will she look after a couple years away from the stage? She was fifth at this show in 2007.

Allison Jones-Williams brought her best in Ft. Lauderdale and will look to repeat the performance in California.

Julie Ann Kulla has been absent from the competitive stage all year but a physique not to count out. She was the 2008 overall champ at the NPC JR. Nationals and went on to compete in the ‘08 Olympia. Julia Ann’s last show was the ‘08 Kentucky Pro where she wasn’t at her best. She’ll look to redeem herself this weekend after some much needed time off.

Akane Nigro-Ismeal will look to be in the top call-outs once again. She finished fifth in her IFBB figure debut at last month’s Border States.

Kristin Nunn is another competitor to watch out for at this event. She narrowly missed an Olympia qualification at the Border States when she finished fourth. She tied for third at this event last year but had to settle for fourth with the tie-breaker. Coming close to an Olympia qualification is not on her mind this time around.

Amy O’Neil had her best pro showing at the ‘09 Europa where she finished sixth.

Sheryln Roy will also look to finish in one of the top spots. I’m a bit surprised to see Sherlyn’s name on this list. It’s not because she won’t be competitive but I’d been told that she would be making her way to the pro bikini division. She’s shown she can hold her own in a pro figure event; she placed second at this year’s Atlantic City Pro.  She’ll look to return to one of the top spots after slipping to 16th at this year’s Figure Olympia.

April Rountree (formerly Fortier) was third at this event last year. She has a balanced physique and one that will be competitive in this line-up. April finished sixth at the Border States event just a few weeks ago.

Many people felt Kristi Tauti was at her best last month. Despite finishing in the runner-up position at the Border States, Tauti said she wasn’t 100%. She’s hungry for her first pro win and has her sights exactly that in Sacramento. It won’t be easy but she’ll definitely be in the mix if she brings the physique she did last month.

Danielle Kifer, Terri Turner and Karly Woodle will be making their IFBB pro debuts. Danielle nabbed her pro card at the Team Universe contest just a few weeks ago while Karly and Terri turned pro at this year’s NPC JR. Nationals. Terri was the overall winner and will look to continue her winning ways in Sacramento.

As you can see this will be virtually impossible to predict. Think you can correctly pick the top 6 in EXACT ORDER? Place your predictions in the comments field. Anyone who correctly predicts the top six in EXACT ORDER we’ll be $100 richer. You have until Saturday, November 7th at 8am PST to case make your picks. Good luck!
