iFORCE Nutrition Gets Hit

Another crackdown by the federal government took place but didn’t make the same headlines as the Bodybuilding.com one did. iFORCE Nutrition’s California offices and warehouse were raided in connection to four of their products. This story appeared on signonsandiego.com today:

Vista company raided in supplement probe

The tentacles of the federal crackdown on over-the-counter nutritional supplements laced with anabolic steroids reached into San Diego County last week, when a Vista company was raided amid suspicions it is manufacturing and selling illegal substances.

A search warrant affidavit issued Sept. 24 for iFORCE Nutrition’s Vista offices and warehouse at 1305 Hot Spring Way appears to be part of a larger federal probe into tainted supplements. That day, the Idaho headquarters of Bodybuilding.com — believed to be the largest online national distributor of supplements — also was raided.

Four of the products identified in the Idaho investigation came from iFORCE Nutrition, according to court documents. Also according to those documents, a Food and Drug Administration lab found they contained various anabolic steroids. One of them is Madol or DMT, a powerful designer steroid used by elite athletes.

David Nelson, the owner of iFORCE Nutrition, did not return a phone message left at his San Marcos home.

“These are significant steps, but unfortunately even after these raids you can still purchase Madol on places like Amazon.com , like we did on Sunday,” said Travis Tygart, CEO of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. “The fact that the FDA has no notice on any of the ingredients coming into the market doesn’t allow them to effectively regulate them.

“It’s a true whack-a-mole approach.”

On Tuesday, Tygart testified at a congressional hearing that examined the abuse of the dietary supplement laws. And in July, the FDA issued a public health advisory for bodybuilding supplements claiming to deliver steroid-like results.

“Adverse event reports received by the FDA . . . include cases of serious liver injury, stroke, kidney failure and pulmonary embolism,” the July 28 advisory says.

Note the story reports you can buy these supplements on Amazon.com and we have yet to hear any headlines from them being raided. I wonder why that is…

Braun = Bonehead of the Month

It’s only the first of the month and it will be tough to beat the irresponsible and unfunny Lori Braun from femalemuscle.com for “Bonehead of the Month”. It’s one thing to post jokes and let people know your story is a parody or fictitious. It’s entirely different when you interlace real news with fake news. Not to mention making up quotes and passing them off as truths. This was posted on Lori’s site this morning and not only is it untrue, but it’s also the type of thing that could land you in legal trouble.

Lori, congrats you’re the bonehead of the month for this idiotic and irresponsible post.

false
Ryan DeLuca never made the above statements and why anyone would think this is funny is beyond me. This isn’t the first post Lori has made where she creates fictious stories and passes them off as actual news on her blog.

Mindi O’Brien Injury Update

Mindi O’Brien pulls off some crazy moves during her fitness routines. While performing her two-minute routine at last weekend’s Fitness Olympia, Mindi left the stage holding her lower back.

mindiback

Mindi has battled with nagging injuries throughout her IFBB Pro fitness career but has managed to always bounce back. She shared on her blog what she was going through leading into the Olympia. She writes, “As it got closer to the Olympia, my back has proceeded to get worse and I have been on anti-inflammatories, receiving treatments (massage, physio and chiropractor care) I had x-rays taken a week before the Olympia and it turned out that my back was a lot worse than I had expected. My spinal cord is impinged and my vertabrae are all out of alignment (from the neck to the lower back) and my hips are totally locked up.”

She goes on to share, “It’s going to be a long journey, but I am excited on getting healthy and getting back on track and having the opportunity to progress onto bigger and better things…I am not calling it a day just yet, but right now my focus is getting my mind and body healthy again…..I only have one body and it needs to last me a long time!!!” Mindi shares more about her Olympia experience in detail on her blog.

Get well Mindi and thanks for the always entertainin routines.

Close my eyes for the chance of a better view

Drowning Pool’s ’37 Stitches’ is a little calmer than some of their stuff but a good tune.

Followed the piper’s sweet whistling
Guided down the path by the wrong hand
Close my eyes for the chance of a better view
Plug my ears so I couldn’t hear you

And I know you are the one
And you know I am the one
Your bitter taste of hell

I know you are the only one, a little taste of heaven
And you know I am the only one, your bitter taste of hell
Your eyes scream the end is creeping end
I’ll need thirty-seven stitches, to keep the pain in
I know you are the only one, on the darkest side of the sun
