Germany’s Regiane Da Silva Two Weeks Out

I don’t understand 99% of what they are saying in this interview but you can get a look at what IFBB Fitness Pro, Regiane Da Silva looks like two weeks before the Olympia. Regiane always brings a very energetic routine to the stage and is sure to do the same next Friday. Look for her to be in the mix for the top 5.

Mealey on the Money

NPC Figure competitor, Laura Mealey kicked the year off with a with a win at the JR USAs. She took the Figure E class at that contest but missed out on a pro card. A few months later, at the NPC Jr. Nationals, Laura slipped to 8th in her class. They say the third time is a charm and that’s what she is hoping for at this weekend’s Team Universe. Here’s a look at Laura a few days out from the contest.

Isabelle Turell withdraws From Olympia

Injuries are not fun for anyone. When they come en route to the biggest competition of your career they sting a bit more. One of the more popular female bodybuilders, Isabelle Turell experienced exactly that. Isabelle was headed to her first Olympia until a knee injury ended her journey.

isabelle

She recently set the record straight SiouxCountry.com as to why she won’t be on stage next week.

Recently I have been receiving a lot of emails as to why my name is no longer on the Olympia list. Unfortunately, I had pulled out of the Olympia 4 weeks due to a knee injury. The doctor was concerned that if I continued on at the pace I was at, then I would need surgery to fix it. He mentioned that if I ceased everything, and stayed off of it as much as I could that my knee should be okay in 8 weeks. I did what was best for me and for my love of competing in the sport. Of course I am very upset about all of this as it was my dream but I can say its not the end of the world and I can assure you there will be many more Ms. Olympias

We wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you back on stage soon. This marks the second female bodybuilder to sit out this year’s Olympia due to injury. Cathy LeFrancois will sit out the big dance as well. Check out the photos of Isabelle from the 2009 Ms. International.

Tauti Bringing Tighter Glutes to the Olympia

IFBB Figure Pro Kristi Tauti will be heading to the Olympia stage with hopes of finishing in the top ten. Last weekend Kristi told Lonnie Teper she’s excited and ready for the big dance. The man with the self-proclaimed “World’s Longest Back” puts her on the stop and asks for a prediction. Check out where Kristi thinks she’ll finish…

HB Song of the Day: I Had The Time of My Life

Yesterday Patrick Swayze passed away after a long struggle with cancer at the age of 57. Women loved him and People magazine saw fit to name him “Sexiest Man Alive” in 1991. The movie many will remember him by is his role in “Dirt Dancing”. The song that comes to mind when I think about that movie is Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes – (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.

Rest in Peace Patrick.

Muscle Milk Monday – Protein Pancakes

If you’re dieting for a contest or just trying to eat healthy you know it can be challenging to not get bored with your menu. All too often it’s the same old plain chicken, tuna, eggwhites or oatmeal. When I find something that combines “approved foods” in a way that is new and delicious I’m stoked. I ran across this recipe from the Muscle Milk® web site:

INGREDIENTS
• 6 egg whites
• ½ cup oatmeal (uncooked)
• 1 scoop any flavor of Muscle Milk® or Muscle Milk® Light powder (Chocolate Milk, Strawberry Banana, Blueberries ‘N Crème, Cinnamon Bun, Cake Batter, Chocolate Peanut Butter, etc…)

DIRECTIONS
• Mix all ingredients together
• Spray hot skillet with cooking spray
• Makes 2 pancakes

Optional: Top with sugar free syrup and sliced bananas

I gave this recipe a whirl with the Muscle Milk® Chocolate Protein and was pleasantly surprised. It tasted great right out of the pan but adding a little I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter on it really did the trick. I’m going to try this recipe again but with the new Cake Batter Monster Milk® flavor. It’s simple, easy and delicious. Try it out!

Four women in this field are already qualified for the Olympia – Alicia Harris, Larissa Reis, Sherlyn Roy and Nicole Wilkins-Lee. Jessica Booth-Palmer
Andrea Carvalho
Lorena Cozza
M.J. Fox
Brandie Gardner

Petra Mertl
Karen Mullarkey
Emily Nicholson
Larissa Reis
Marie Pierre Ripert
Sheryln Roy
Elissa Schlichter

Jessica Booth-Palmer will make the switch from Fitness to Figure at this event and in the past she has faired better in the physique rounds. We’ll see how she compares in this line-up. Juliana Malacarne takes the stage again and is always a crowd favorite. Emily Nicholson will make her pro debut after turning pro at the NPC USA contest in July. Nicole Wilkins-Lee and Larissa Reis each have a pro win under their belt this year and have to be considered the front runners, at least on paper.

HARDBODY will be in the Big Apple covering all the action beginning Thursday. Stay tuned for more updates and a special guest contributor who will be sharing her journey this weekend. As always you can follow us on twitter @hardbodynews. Thanks to IFBBpro.com for the updated list.

IFBB Figure pro Kristal Richardson is sitting just days out from the 2009 Figure Olympia. Over the weekend, she put on her alter-ego outfit and headed to Pittsburgh for the city’s Comicon. Here’s a peek at what you can expect Kristal to look like in Vegas. She’ll have to trade in the holster and boots for heels and a swimsuit but you can see how her physique is looking.

Hydroxycut Hold-Up

Did the Hydroxycut recall cause such a demand for their new formula that people are being robbed over it? Apparently a man with “skinny arms” and a “pot belly” desperately needed the fat loss pills and resorted a hold-up to get them.  Ya, this is a bizarre one…

A robber got away with money and a bottle of weight-loss pills after holding up a GNC store in North Stafford Thursday, police said.

Sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy said the victim noticed the suspect standing outside the Stafford Marketplace store, talking on a cell phone for about 10 minutes before entering the store about 1:25 p.m.

The man asked for some Hydroxycut pills, and the employee went to a locked cabinet to get them, Kennedy said.

The suspect then indicated that he had a gun and said he wanted money from the cash register. The clerk complied and the suspect got an undisclosed amount of cash and the bottle of pills.

Before leaving, the suspect made the victim lie on the ground. The victim immediately called police, but did not see which way the suspect went.

Deputies and police dogs rushed to the scene, but did not find the suspect.

The suspect was described as black, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 pounds, wearing blue pants and a blue shirt.

He had skinny arms, a pot belly and smelled like alcohol, Kennedy said.

Gina Aliotti Bringing a New Package

LT interviews 2x Figure Olympia runner-up Gina Aliotti at the 2009 NPC Tournament of Champion. Gina was judging the NPC event in Culver City over the weekend. Gina shares that she is lighter in weight and has streamlined her physique. She does look to be sporting a smaller, tighter physique in this vide. She’s says she’s “been training like a champ” and looking to leave Vegas as one.

Lonnie is picking Gina for the win. What do you think will Gina win?

The Swami Interviews Sonia Gonzalez

Lonnie “The Swami” Teper and Ron “Yogi” Avidan were on hand at the NPC Tournament of Champions this weekend. Lonnie was the emcee of the event while Ron was the roving reporter. The West Coast tandem cornered IFBB Sonia Gonzalez to get her take on the upcoming Figure Olympia. Sonia tells Lonnie she is, “In it to win it”. Gotta love the mentality and from the looks of things she’ll be in the mix. Check it out…

Serena Williams Meltdown at US OPEN

Tennis Pro, Serena Williams had an epic meltdown over a call at the US OPEN.

If you’re struggling to read lips she says, “”I’m going to shove this ball down your f_ _ _ _ _ _ throat”. Eek, probably not the most professional way to handle things.

Atlantic City Pro: Fitness Results

Tracey Greenwood repeated as the Atlantic City Fitness Champ once again. Unlike a couple years ago she won’t leave with an injured thumb but instead carry some momentum into the Olympia. Tanji Johnson showed that she is still a top tier pro by bringing a much improved showing. Tanji rocked the house and won the two-minute routine round. Nicole Duncan also kicked some booty in the routine rounds and it helped launch her into 4th. She’s already qualified for the Olympia from her third place showing in Dallas last month. Her physique wasn’t quite as sharp this time and it dropped her a bit in the physique rounds. Bethany Wagner more than held her own in the physique rounds and her 45-second routine helped her stay in the top three. She still needs some refining on the two-minute routine and when she does look out, this girl will be winning pro shows. Laticia rounded out the top five. Congratulations ladies.

Marie Ann Newman had an impressive pro debut by placing 4th. Just a few weeks ago she was battling it out as an amatuer in the NPC. Christiana Casoni also had an impressive return to her the stage and placed 5th. This was the most refine look she’s presented as a pro.

Atlantic City Pro: Figure Prejudging

The IFBB Atlantic City Pro Figure prejudging took place this morning and it had a few surprises. The Brazilian bombshell Larissa Reis had her best showing to date and could be in the running for an Olympia qualification. Most wouldn’t have predicted her in their top five but won’t argue with her being there now. I’d like to see her posing improve a bit and it would showcase her physique better. She’s definitely improved from previous showings and should be stoked with the results here.  Shannon Meteraud will be in the mix for the top five however she looked a little soft from behind this morning. I had her winning the Master’s Pro last night but I’m not sure she’ll take top honors in this one. Tivisay Briceno also looks to be in the top five and could be as high as second and as low as fifth. Alicia Harris is looking to land in the top three and has competed in a number of shows this year where she’s just missed it. She has the tightest top five booty but continues to be plaqued by her posing. Will it be enough to knock her out of the top three? I don’t think so but you never know as all the details come into play at this level. Sherlyn Roy is having her best showing as a pro. It was one year ago that she took top honors at the Team Universe contest. She could be in a position to head to her first Olympia after tonight. I won’t be surprised with any arrangement of these five women as no one is 100% spot on but a case could be made for all to be in the top three.

The lone qualified Figure Olympia competitor, Patricia Mello looks to be on the outside of the top ten at this show. That means three women will qualify for the Figure Olympia here.  We’ll find out how the top five play out tonight at the finals.

Shina & Kirstin Win in Atlantic City

Congratulations to HARDBODY Shina Mitchell Lewis for winning the overall NPC bikini crown today in Atlantic City. Shina is showing unselfish side again….as she is currently helping her hubby FLEX prepare for the night show. Tonight we’ll find out if the husband/wife duo are celebrating two victories.

Fellow hardbody Kirstin Lykus took top honors in her class. This was Kirstin’s first NPC show and she kicked some booty. Kirstin will be heading to the Team Universe contest next weekend looking to turn pro. You can meet Kirstin at the Gaspari Nutrition booth during the Olympia weekend.

Congrats ladies!

Atlantic City Pro Prejudging: Women’s Bodybuilding

The prejudging for the women’s bodybuilding took place last night and there were a variety of physiques on stage. You’re top five (in no particular order) appear to be Kristy Hawkins, Lisa Aukland, Nicole Ball, Klaudia Larson and Brenda Raganot. Kristy Hawkins looks to have added some size since we last saw her but defending champ, Lisa Aukland will be tough to beat. Nicole Ball is a fan favorite and could find herself qualified for the Olympia here. Check out the women’s bodybuilding prejudging photos here.

Check out the physique round photos from the IFBB Atlantic City Pro Fitness. I really like the physique Bethany Wagner has brought to the stage in her last two shows. As she continues to refine her routine she could be a top pro in the years to come.
