Truvia: A New “Natural Sweetner” from the Stevia leaf
I saw a commercial last night promoting a new natural sweetener called “Truvia“. It’s directly targeting Splenda with it’s messaging. I know a number of you use sweeteners while some of you are dead set against them. What do you think of this new sweetener, would you try it or not for you?

Truvia™ natural sweetener is a great tasting, natural, zero calorie tabletop sweetener, made with rebiana, derived from the best tasting part of the stevia leaf. Truvia™ natural sweetener is also an ingredient used to sweeten foods and beverages.

I’ve tasted raw stevia leaves from a friend’s garden and was pretty amazed at the flavor. I don’t know anything about the chemistry of the plant, though, or of this product. And I don’t think there have been any long term tests on its effects.
The problem with Splenda/sucralose is that it’s a chlorinated sucrose molecule and (being indigestible) may build up in the body over time, causing a wide variety of problems.
Really, the only known safe artificial sweetener is saccharin; it’s been in widespread use for almost 100 years with no serious side-effects recorded from moderate use.
Ive used this before just get it from the health food store (stevia)…but there is a market for anything & a newer better product gets ppls attention..aghh..wonder how long before there is a newer/better product discovery?! lol
I use Truvia. It’s good.

I love the *idea* of Stevia, but I find the taste to be bitter (licorice-like).
Most Stevia tasted very bitter – Truvia tastes great, I use it.
