Thursday Thoughts…

Every once in awhile we need reminders. I posted a reminder about fears yesterday and today I had another reminder to share. I read a variety of books and magazines, usually while sweating my arse off on the gauntlet. Yes, I am one of those who believes you can do cardio and read. Some don’t but that’s a conversation for another time. This morning I dusted off an old book that I think is worth reading or at least skimming over every few months. The basic principles in this book are something I think we should all try to remember. I know I needed the reminder this week. I’m sure many of you have read the book and for those of you who haven’t, it’s worth the time.

The book is by Don Miguel Ruiz entitled, The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom, A Toltec Wisdom Book. It talks about 4 basic agreements we should try to have with ourselves.

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

    Heya I,

thanks for your book recommendation…should i be calling you Ophrah:)

I have been getting back to some reading during this off-season…and currently on a great book called “The Secret” (also made into a movie). It will definitely provide you with the ‘tools’ to get more of what you truly want in Life, and to live your life to its fullest!

I loved this book. My father gave me a copy years ago. I must’ve finished it in less than a week.

I have this book at home. I haven’t gotten the chance to read it yet. I hear it is amazing. You might also like Eckhart Tolle “Power of Now” & “A New Earth”. Also Scott Abel just released a new book called “Your Truth is Calling” http://www.scottabel.com . If you have read Scott’s Blog , he is a great writer than tells it like it is. The Abraham Hicks books are good too. I read “The Power of Emotions”. If you have any other book recommendations, please share. :)
